Magic Sunrise was my first album, released under the artist name Cult of the Mellow Day. Despite training in digital audio editing in 1996, I didn't get my first PC until 2002. I couldn't afford one. It took some work, hundreds of hours, and over £1K in cash, to build a tower that was capable of running as an audio work station. By 2004 I was up and running. Cakewalk Sonar, a 5-pin MIDI keyboard, 512 MB ram (yes MB), a 1.4 GHz Pentium III processor, a Sound Blaster Audigy PCI audio card, and a 14 inch CRT monitor that was longer at the back than it was tall. Oh, and Windows Millennium edition. The setup crashed every 40 minutes or so. Between gigging and rehearsing with blues power trio Devils River, and working a full time job plus overtime, I got the album finished. It was released on the 1st January 2005.
